Meet Shunte


More than your average queen is Ms. Black Texas USA 2013 L. Shunte Jones. By day she is a sports financial advisor and partner with Wealth Development Strategies, LLP where she manages the wealth and business ventures of some of the most prominent names in professional sports. By night she is a student at Rice University enrolled in the graduate financial education program. She merges her love of pageants with her love of finances as Ms. Black Texas USA.  During her reign, Shunte will be advocate for her platform entitled “Building Stronger Families Through Financial Literacy.” Well qualified in the area, the Prairie View A&M University and holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics, a master’s degree in community development, and attended Champion School of Real Estate. Additional she holds several licenses and certifications.

Her professional affiliations include National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and Sports Financial Advisors Association. Socially, she is a member of the North Harris County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., a licensed HIV/AIDs educator through the American Red Cross of Houston, a member of the Houston City-Wide Volunteer Organization, and a “Money Matters” course instructor for the Women’s Resource of Greater Houston where she enjoys the unique privilege of helping victims of domestic violence, and formerly incarcerated women rebuild their lives financially. Jones also volunteers as a facilitator for Project LEAD, an initiative designed to promote financial literacy amongst teenage girls at various high schools within inner city Houston and serves as campaign treasurer to various politicians in the Greater Houston Area. Featured in several publications, Shunte’s work as a young professional, community volunteer, and philanthropist underscore her worthiness as a successful advisor.

A native of Marshall, Texas, Shunte is an avid reader and amateur boxer. She enjoys traveling, the great outdoors, volunteering, cooking and meeting new and exciting people.
